Tiny Treasures Picture Frame Craft for Preschoolers

Do you have an ever-growing supply of miscellaneous pieces (aka treasures) that your child has collected over years (or maybe just since this morning)? Give those “treasures” a new purpose.

Have your child gather up some of their smaller treasures and use them to create a beautiful, memorable picture collage frame.

These also make great gift ideas for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, or Christmas!

Ideas for Materials:

  • Gather small items that are no longer useful (except as treasures, of course): game pieces from a game long gone, buttons, foam numbers, letters, or shapes, cones, small toys, Lego, puzzle pieces, stones, feathers…
  • Pieces of tissue paper, wrapping paper, construction paper, aluminum foil or stickers

Instructions

  1. Cut a rectangle out in the center of a piece of cardboard or poster board, large enough to see a picture through it.

2. Cut out a piece of card stock larger than the window in your frame and have your child glue a picture on it. Set it aside for now.

3. Now the fun part – have your child collect those treasures, and then decorate their frame with them.

5. After they’re finished, help them glue their picture inside the cut-out area.
