Kids are attracted to frogs. Maybe it’s because, just like preschoolers, frogs are so much fun. They never want to stay still in one place for too long. So for a child like that to sit and listen to a story, it has to keep their attention, and that’s how these fun frog books for preschool made it to this list!

Fantastic Frog Books for Preschool
Frog picture books are a great way for little learners to explore a frog unit, and these are some fabulous frog books to add to your list.
Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London
Froggy Gets Dressed is a big hit with preschoolers. In this silly story, Froggy wakes up in the middle of winter and wants to play in the snow. He has to get dressed over and over again because he keeps forgetting an article of clothing – which his mom keeps announcing very loudly out the window.
Toad on the Road by Susan Schade
Toad on the Road is a silly book about a toad who loves to drive. If your child is learning to read, this is a good choice for a beginner reader book with a frog theme. It is from the Step Into Reading series books for preschoolers, so it has large text and a simple, fun storyline.
In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming
In the Small, Small Pond starts with tadpoles and then follows their adventure as a frog living in the pond with other animals. This is a fun book for preschoolers because they have to search for the frog throughout the pages.
I’m a Frog by Mo Williams
This is a silly book from the Elephant and Piggy Series, in which Piggy pretends to be a frog.
Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel
This is a classic chapter book about the friendship between Frog and Toad.
It’s Mine by Leo Lionni
This is another classic. This story is about three frogs who each argue, all day long, about what belongs to them. After an act of kindness from a toad, they finally learn to share.
These are two of my favorite frog books for young children – Tuesday by David Wiesner and A Frog Thing by Eric Drachman
Tuesday by David Wiesner
Tuesday by David Wiesner is a whimsical book full of imagination. The illustrations are amazing and are used to tell the silly story of events with frogs that took place one Tuesday night.
A Frog Thing by Eric Drachman
A Frog Thing, we find out that even frogs are taught life lessons – at least a little frog named Frank was. This great story shares Frank’s fun adventure doing what no other frog has ever done – flying! It all started when his parents told him he could do anything he sets his mind to. So, Frank set his mind to flying. When Frank’s parents realize what he wants to do, they try to explain that what they meant was that he can do any frog thing he sets his mind to. But Frank is determined to fly. This is a great book about a young frog who refuses to give up on his dream. It has a great ending and teaches a valuable life lesson preschoolers will understand and enjoy hearing read.
Nonfiction Frog Books
Preschoolers have curious minds
Being Frog by April Pulley Sayre
Being Frog is told in simple text, which makes this one of the best nonfiction books for preschoolers exploring a frog’s life. The photos are amazing.
Red-Eyed Tree Frog by Joy Cowley
I love finding nonfiction books for preschoolers that have short text but are still very fascinating. Red-Eyed Tree Frog is one of those books! This is an excellent book for a frog lover. It has fun frog facts and amazing, breathtaking photography. The story follows a red-eyed tree frog through the evening as it hunts for food in the rainforest.
From Tadpole to Frog by Kathleen Weiner Zoehfeld
From Tadpole to Frog is a perfect way for preschoolers to learn a few more specific fun facts about frogs. From a tiny tadpole to an adult frog, this book explains the life cycle of a frog for preschoolers using short text and awesome photos that are sure to intrigue your young learner.
